Shakir Ullah

contributed to ICT4COP’s Work Package 8: South Asia, collecting data from field study areas in Pakistan and writing multiple articles for the project. Additionally, he took part in various meetings, workshops and conferences of ICT4COP, and performed other administrative tasks related to the project.

Shakir Ullah is working as Research Associate with the Department of Development Studies COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus, Pakistan. He is in the final stages of completing his PhD in Development Studies from the same department. His PhD research topic revolves around the violent conflict in tribal areas of Pakistan, its underlying cause and impacts on tribal social structure and cultural values. Shakir Ullah hails from the tribal region of Pakistan, which has been affected by a violent conflict, Talibanization and militancy for the last four decades. Being a local native, Shakir Ullah developed interests and expertise in conflict and its linkages to social structure and cultural heritage. He remained part of several research and humanitarian projects on post-conflict development, post-conflict need assessments and community-policing in post-conflict scenarios.
